At the heart of love, there is an existence of self that is centered on the concept of self-worth.

It truly is amazing that in this day and age, we have more instances of individuals who deem themselves unworthy in so many ways, especially in love. In all of our enlighten states, for some reason, many seem to slip increasingly into pits of self-despair that really evades me.

There is no doubt that with a modicum of technological advancement, there is a tendency to fill our time in pursuits that do cheapen our self-worth.

It is unfortunate for love that this heighten state of awareness has not translated into a deeper evaluation of self and therefore, of love.

Being worthy is an attitude of the heart that is based in gratitude in all you do. If you are not grateful for the beauty of a new day, of nature, of the presence of loved ones in your life, of who you are to the world, then you may be incapable of truly loving others.

You see, love starts with the mirror. It reflects back that who is capable of loving themselves first.

Get over yourself if you have been brought up to somehow believe that some sort of self-sacrifice is mandatory in the name of love. You are incapable of loving others with that emotion always prevalent in your psyche.

There is a principle that says that the mind truly is incapable of holding two simultaneous thoughts. Sorry all you multi-taskers out there.

Essentially, if you have this constant, nagging self-doubt, how could you possibly release love towards others?

By loving yourself in a positive way, you release yourself to the universe to love in ways you could never have imagined.

The journey starts with the mirror.

There is a new movie coming out with Vince Vaughn called, “Couples Retreat” that looks very, very funny.

Of course the premise is that there are several couples who are looking to spice up their beleaguered relationships with a trip to Paradise. The comedy comes from all of the situations surrounding the couples while at the resort and it will probably end, although this is merely conjecture, that they will find love right in their own backyard.

Most relationships fall victim, from time to time, of the excitement of a new and different element being inserted into the psyche of the love to assist in the development of a stronger bond.

There is no doubt that this is excellent for any relationship as the mere act on refocusing on your partners needs, wants and desires is never a bad thing.

But you see my point here? It is the refocusing that you need to begin the process.

This starts now, within you. These moments are yours to find as you look within to give the love outward. Love is not something that someone else gives you, but is an extension of what you give others played back like a movie.

To find and to receive love on a level that you desire, you must first do so from within.

This is a tricky part as we are taught early on that self-love is boisterous and not appealing, but even Jesus said as much in the Bible when he said we are to love our neighbor as ourselves.

A pretty clear mandate here. Love yourself first and trust yourself to be able to receive the love that you show.

This is the beginning and the time to start is now.
