There was a song back in the ’80’s by Pat Benatar called “Love is a Battlefield” that seemed to stir the hearts and souls of millions and to me, totally in the wrong way.
To this day I often hear people refer to the whole aspect of love as a battlefield of some sorts and it deeply saddens me to think that many people look at love in that way as they go into it in the first place.
Think of what a battlefield is in the first place shall we?
It is the place that two warring factions go to kill and maim each other in conquest for territory of some sorts.
In love, the territory is often who is in control of a situation or of the relationship in general. In love, the territory can be one of outright control of emotions and feelings or even of time i.e. the control of each other’s time in a damaging way.
First of all, Love Writings is all about taking the battlefield aspect of your relationship and trashing it completely. I mean you have to get rid of it and you have to do it now.
Second you have to not think of yourself as nose-to-nose as you face each other in some sort of conflict but really a hand-in-hand situation as you aspire to look into the future. Only with a hand-in-hand scenario can you truly begin and sustain a relationship that is edifying and centered on getting the best from your life of love.
Third, and this is key, you have to believe that each of you has a vital part to play in the overall success of the relationship and that there is a perfect synergy that is and will always be maintained in your life of love. All in all, it is a rethinking of the love relationship but it is crucial that you completely destroy the battlefield mentality. Nothing good can or ever has come from it.
